About Registered Redneck:
Registered Redneck, the brainchild of Mississippi born documentary filmmaker and educator Chandler Griffin, is a celebration of the redneck in all of us. Humor aside, RR was created as a way to support himself while initiating projects in sub-saharan Africa. Chandler is the founder of a media education nonprofit, Barefoot Workshops; a vocational training and rehabilitation center in northern Uganda, A River Blue and small fundraising initiative in Zimbabwe called the The Arnold & Friends Fund.
Between 2000 & 2001 Chandler was hired to make a documentary on HIV/AIDS in Zimmbabwe. While in Zimbabwe, he met young boy named Arnold who changed Chandler's perspective on life. Arnold passed away shortly after Chandler's last visit to Zimbabwe.
In 2003 Chandler launched The Arnold & Friends Fund, TAAFF, an organization focusing on the needs of marginalized children in Zimbabwe. His first project was for the Zimbabwean orphanage, Mother Of Peace Community, where clothing, books, crayons, and bed linens were collected followed by a fundraiser to pay for the shipping.
In 2004 Chandler started Barefoot Workshops, a New York City-based, nonprofit organization 501(c)3 that teaches individuals and organizations how to use digital video, new media, and the arts to transform their communities and themselves. Each year, Barefoot teaches traditional Documentary Workshops in the Mississippi Delta, South Africa, the West Bank and Australia, which are open to individuals with beginner through advanced levels of training. Barefoot Workshops also leads NGO workshops in partnership with government and nongovernmental organizations. Together, Barefoot builds the capacity of organizations around the world to meet program goals in areas such as: health (HIV/AIDS), conflict resolution, youth empowerment, civil rights and democracy-building.
In 2006 Chandler and Barefoot Workshops launched A River Blue Arts Festival, an arts empowerment project for the children of internally-displaced persons camps in northern Uganda. One hundred children were brought together to participate in a music, dance, drama, and art festival. The festival was hugely successful, which prompted Barefoot Workshops to continue its support through a community development project called A River Blue Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center. Each year, twenty-six of the community's most vulnerable youth are sponsored to attend A River Blue Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center based in Alebtong, which offers a hybrid curriculum that mixes counseling, tailoring, agro-forestry, agriculture, animal husbandry, painting, MDD (music, dance & drama), English and basic business. An additional thirty-one youth are sponsored by A River Blue through a variety of outside programs including secondary school, catering/hotel management, and various other vocational training programs.
Though he currently resides between New York City and Los Angeles, Mississippi is Chandler
and Registered Redneck's true home. In an effort to benefit local economy "orders
are shipped" and produced in Mississippi using products made in
the USA. T-shirts purchased through Registered Redneck are made by
American Apparel and locally screen printed in Jackson by Studio Chane.

many projects. We welcome you to "contact" us to inquire
